From inside the app. Tap the speech bubble beside the bell on the home screen. You can leave an email address if you'd like a reply, and skip it if you wouldn't.
A reply can take a few days. If something is broken, telling me what you were doing just before it happened is the single most useful thing you can include.
Reflection won't open
Reflection opens once you have finished one Thread — that's what the line on the home screen means when it reads "Reflection opens after you finish one below". Pick anything from "Today feels like…", go through it to the end, and the row above will open.
It says I've used my allowance
A subscription runs 10 Reflection sessions a month and one a day. A session is a whole sitting, not a single message — it ends after an hour or 30 replies, whichever comes first, and leaving and coming back doesn't cost you another one.
When you hit a limit, the app tells you the exact time it refills, on your own clock. The month runs from the day your subscription renews rather than the first of the calendar month.
Cancelling, or getting a refund
The subscription is Apple's, so both happen on Apple's side. Cancel in Settings on your device → your name → Subscriptions. Ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. I can't do either for you from here.
If you've paid and the app doesn't know it — after a new phone, say — there's a Restore purchases button on the subscription screen.
Where my writing is, and how to get rid of it
It's on your device, and in your iCloud backup if you use one. Deleted entries go to a trash that keeps them restorable for 30 days; hidden and deleted ones live behind the archive box in the Records toolbar.
To remove everything at once: Settings → Erase all data completely (this device & iCloud). Deleting the app removes the rest. There is no copy of your writing on my side to delete — see the privacy policy.
If you ever ask about your records. There is no account, so I can't look you up by name or email. What finds your records on my side is the receipt code in Settings → AI consent (it looks like FW-7K2M-Q9PX). Send it with your question and I can tell you what is kept for that copy of the app, and when you agreed or withdrew. Without it, nothing tells your records apart from anyone else's — and deleting the app deletes the code with it, so keep a note of it if it matters to you.
Turning off what the app shares
Settings has a switch called "Share which ones you open". With it on, the app records the name of a Thread you opened and nothing else — never a word of what you wrote. Turn it off and it stops immediately.
If you need someone now
Fearward is a tool for self-reflection, not therapy. It doesn't diagnose, and it can't replace a professional.
findahelpline.com lists free, confidential lines worldwide. Inside the app, "Find a helpline" — at the bottom of every Reflection screen and at the end of every Thread — opens the line for your country. If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.
How Fearward responds when someone may be in danger
Help is always on the screen. Every Reflection screen, and the end of every Thread, carries the line "Find a helpline". It opens a crisis line for the country your phone is set to — nineteen countries today — and findahelpline.com everywhere else. It is there whatever you write; it never appears because of something you said.
What the AI is told to do. If you say anything that suggests you may hurt yourself, that someone is hurting you, or that you are in more pain than you can carry, the AI in a Reflection is instructed to stop asking questions, to tell you where "Find a helpline" is on your screen, and to keep talking with you rather than end the conversation. It never gives a phone number itself, because a wrong one could cost you the courage it took to call. If you tell it you are under 18, it tells you the app is made for adults and points you to the same line and to an adult you trust.
What it cannot do. Nobody reads your conversations, and nothing you write alerts anyone — not us, not a service, not the police. Fearward cannot send help to you. If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (911 in the US and Canada, 999 or 112 in the UK, 000 in Australia).
